DANIA BEACH MARINA REOPENS AFTER $7.5 MILLION RENOVATION

August 18, 2014

Concrete docks at Dania Beach Marina

The new marina features a one-of-a-kind dock system developed by Bellingham Marine along with a number of upland improvements.  The renovation is part of the City’s master plan to revitalize their waterfront.

Dania Beach, FL – August 18, 2014 – City officials joined local boaters on the 24th of June to celebrate the completion of a major renovation project at Dania Beach Marina.  The project included rebuilding the City owned marina and supporting upland structures.

The new marina features a state-of-the-art dock system, from world renowned marina builder, Bellingham Marine, with capacity for 120 boats up to 50’ in length.  Other improvements include a new pumpout facility, fish cleaning stations, repairs to the seawall, new shoreside buildings, and gazebos with views of the waterfront.

Mayor, Walter Duke said in an earlier press release, “We’re just thrilled to have the opportunity to create a highly efficient, well located and beautiful new marina that will be an asset for residents and visitors alike.”

The new docks at Dania Beach are engineered to last for 50+ years. The concrete floating docks feature corrosion resistant fiberglass through-rods and a chemical free, composite waler system. According to Bellingham Marine, this is the first marina in the U.S. to build a dock system of this type.  If the docks performed as expected, Dania Beach could help pave the way for these innovative products to become more accepted in the dock building industry.

“The development of a composite waler and fiberglass through-rod system has been a long time in the making,” said Bellingham Marine President, Everett Babbitt.  “We anticipated the coming of this trend a number of years ago and have been working closely with companies in the composite and fiberglass industries to ensure the development of materials that would meet our strict engineering and performance specifications.”

As the world’s leading marina design-build construction company, Bellingham Marine specializes in floating dock, floating platform and floating wave attenuation systems for marinas worldwide. The company also produces dry storage systems for the upland storage of boats.
