Delaware’s Sussex County is home to five state parks, several wildlife preserves and a host of public-access beaches. Now, thanks to Bellingham Marine and the Blades Economic Development Company (BEDCO), the county can boast the addition of a new, state-of-the-art marina.
Nanticoke River Marine Park, a round basin just off the river, is located in the town of Blades and is the cornerstone of BEDCO’s development plan. Bellingham designed the poured-pan concrete, Unideck® dock system to accentuate the shape of the basin and provide stable, durable footing. With 89 slips ranging in size from 30′ to 50′, the marina caters to boaters by providing a pump-out facility, fuel station, boat ramp, travel lift and a yacht club in a beautiful, scenic setting.
Safety features include life rings and ladders on all docks, as well as a fire protection system. Sussex County is also host to many entertaining cultural events each year, such as the Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival, annual River Fest boat parade, Sussex Arts Council art galleries and the Rehoboth Art League classes for artists of all ages.
Bellingham Marine designs manufactures and installs Unifloat® floating dock systems, Unideck® fresh water dock systems and Unistack® dry storage buildings for marinas and boat service facilities worldwide.

The Board of Directors of Bellingham Marine Industries has appointed J. Everett Babbitt as the sole President of Bellingham Marine. When Babbitt joined Bellingham in 1984 as a Northwest region sales rep, he brought with him 10 years of experience in the marine industry. In 1988, he accepted the position and responsibilities of General Manager of the Southwest Division in California. In 1992, he returned to Bellingham, Washington, where he formed and managed Bellingham’s Metal Systems Division.
Babbitt’s responsibilities within the company continued to expand when, in 1995, he supervised all four company divisions as Vice President of Operations, and, in 1998, he became the Executive Vice President. In 2001, he was promoted to Co-President and was responsible for operations, production, construction, accounting and all financial aspects of Bellingham Marine.
Now, as President, Babbitt is in charge of the overall performance of the five US and two international divisions of the company. “I look forward to supporting the extremely talented professionals who make up the team of Bellingham Marine. This is a unique company that has extraordinary opportunities to assume a leading role in our industry.”

In order to enhance the world-class status of Coomera Waters Residential Estates, a new community in Queensland, Australia, developers decided to include a state-of-the-art marina. They chose Bellingham Marine Australia to design and construct the 70-slip facility.
Bellingham’s Pacific® system floats are fully encased in concrete, providing the best protection against sea growth, petroleum intrusion, collision, propellers and, most importantly, fire damage. The system was also the obvious choice because its lasting, durable finish is stable under foot and will blend beautifully with the other luxurious facilities planned for the development.
Slips range in length from 10 m to 30 m. The marina is held in position by 35 concrete piles, with seabed embedments of up to 5 m. Each arm of the dockage provides fire protection, drinking water, and single- and three-phase power. In addition to the marina, Coomera Waters boasts individual, waterfront pontoons for residences.
Bellingham Marine also designs, manufactures and installs Unifloat® floating dock systems, Unideck® freshwater dock systems and Unistack® dry storage buildings for marinas and boat service facilities worldwide.

A brand new marina in Ensenada, B.C., Mexico, will afford more dockage for boaters who visit the area to enjoy the myriad year-round recreational activities. Design, supply and installation of the new Unifloat dock system will be performed by world-renowned marina constructor Bellingham Marine.
Ensenada Cruiseport Village and its 214 floating slips, averaging 50′ in length, will greet boaters with a variety of amenities, including dockside power and lighting, telephone and TV at each slip. The facility will also feature a fuel dock. Many who visit the Ensenada area come from southern California.
A ride down the scenic tollway is all it takes to witness or be a part of the over 75 sporting, cultural and gastronomical events that occur every year. Just a few miles south of Ensenada is La Bufadora, one of the biggest blowholes in North America. To the northeast is the Valle de Guadalupe, noted for the vineyards that produce nearly 90% of Mexico’s wine. The city is also host to many international events, such as the Baja 1000 Off Road Race, Newport-Ensenada Regatta, and the Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Race.
Bellingham’s environmentally friendly floating docks are engineered to provide attractive, low-maintenance moorage in all types of water and weather conditions anywhere in the world.

About an hour’s drive from Melbourne, Australia, on the southern shores of Port Phillip, the Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron is now enjoying the benefits of a new, state-of-the-art floating dock marina. Blairgowrie Safe Boat Harbor and Marina is the first “greenfield site” facility developed on Port Phillip in over 30 years, and is unique in many other ways.
The harbor boasts a new 1,050′ concrete jetty and a 709′, fixed-panel wave screen suspended above the seabed on driven steel piles. Marina components constructed by Bellingham Marine Australia Pty Ltd include a 236′ wave attenuator and the 170-berth Unifloat® floating dock system which accommodates sailing and power boats from 26′ to 60′. The docks also include service pedestals and fire stations.
Bellingham Marine General Manager John Spragg said, “It was one of the best projects I’ve ever been involved in. It ran like clockwork and was completed on time and within budget.” The new facility dramatically improves boating safety by providing a haven in extreme weather and by making the Yacht Squadron rescue craft more accessible. An improvement in water quality and an increase in marine life has already been observed around the harbor.
