The Port of San Diego now welcomes visiting boaters with new, state-of-the-art floating docks designed and installed by Bellingham Marine. In addition to short-term public berths, Bellingham also constructed a new dock for the Harbor Police and US Customs boats.
The concrete Unifloat® police dock, which provides a safe, side-tie working platform for the official agencies, replaces the wooden structure built in the 1950s. The new dock measures 12′ wide x 400′ long and can accommodate boats up to 130′. It is designed for a 3′ maximum wave height and 45′ wave length, and has three sewage pumpout stations. The 16 transient slips range in length from 35′ to 55′ and have full utilities, including electricity and potable water. Both docks are equipped with firefighting apparatus.
As general contractor for the project, Bellingham also designed and built the ADA-certified access system of shoreside walks that lead to 120′ of switch-back gangways. These allow visitors with mobility restrictions to move from shore to the floating docks safely. The company also contracted construction of the parking areas, sidewalks, landscaping and upland utilities. Shelter Island is the center of San Diego Bay’s marine activities. It’s just minutes from some of the finest marinas, hotels, restaurants and shops in the region.

With a population of nearly 200,000, Huntington Beach is one of the 100 largest cities in the US. Located 35 miles southeast of Los Angeles, Huntington Beach was voted the number one city for business in California by California Business Magazine. In addition to its 9 miles of beautiful sandy beaches, Huntington Beach is now home to a 60-slip, concrete floating dock marina at Tennis Estates, a local residential tennis and marina development.
As the turnkey contractor, Bellingham Marine Industries replaced the existing slips with the latest generation of its patented Unifloat® dock system. The marina includes three docks with single-piece fingers and lengthened headwalk modules with a single waler system. The new dock system is built around the existing concrete pilings so the dimensioning of the system was critical. Bellingham installed 16 custom built aluminum gangways for individual homeowner access, electric, fire and potable water systems, as well as a 625′ sidetie for larger vessels.
Fresh Alaskan sockeye salmon, barbequed by the Bellingham Marine management staff, highlighted the grand opening activities on Saturday, April 17, 2002. Over 100 guests and residents of Tennis Estates turned out for this gala event.

Delaware’s Sussex County is home to five state parks, several wildlife preserves and a host of public-access beaches. Now, thanks to Bellingham Marine and the Blades Economic Development Company (BEDCO), the county can boast the addition of a new, state-of-the-art marina.
Nanticoke River Marine Park, a round basin just off the river, is located in the town of Blades and is the cornerstone of BEDCO’s development plan. Bellingham designed the poured-pan concrete, Unideck® dock system to accentuate the shape of the basin and provide stable, durable footing. With 89 slips ranging in size from 30′ to 50′, the marina caters to boaters by providing a pump-out facility, fuel station, boat ramp, travel lift and a yacht club in a beautiful, scenic setting.
Safety features include life rings and ladders on all docks, as well as a fire protection system. Sussex County is also host to many entertaining cultural events each year, such as the Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival, annual River Fest boat parade, Sussex Arts Council art galleries and the Rehoboth Art League classes for artists of all ages.

In order to enhance the world-class status of Coomera Waters Residential Estates, a new community in Queensland, Australia, developers decided to include a state-of-the-art marina. They chose Bellingham Marine Australia to design and construct the 70-slip facility.
Bellingham’s Pacific® system floats are fully encased in concrete, providing the best protection against sea growth, petroleum intrusion, collision, propellers and, most importantly, fire damage. The system was also the obvious choice because its lasting, durable finish is stable under foot and will blend beautifully with the other luxurious facilities planned for the development.
Slips range in length from 10 m to 30 m. The marina is held in position by 35 concrete piles, with seabed embedments of up to 5 m. Each arm of the dockage provides fire protection, drinking water, and single- and three-phase power. In addition to the marina, Coomera Waters boasts individual, waterfront pontoons for residences.
Bellingham Marine also designs, manufactures and installs Unifloat® floating dock systems, Unideck® freshwater dock systems and Unistack® dry storage buildings for marinas and boat service facilities worldwide.
