BELLINGHAM ADD TO SW SALES TEAM

December 1, 2002 / No Comments

Bellingham Marine Industries has welcomed seasoned veteran Fernando Navarro to its Southwest Division sales team. Jim Puder, general manager of the Southwest Division, made the announcement. Navarro is responsible for developing sales leads within Mexico and Central America. He works with clients to identify project opportunities, provide market knowledge and feasibility studies, cultivate financing opportunities and apply for necessary permits, along with the many other services pertinent to marina development and construction. He is also the interpreter and negotiation facilitator for company proposals and meetings with customers in these markets.

Navarro will work as the project manager for Bellingham Marine construction activities in Mexico. Among his specific duties are scheduling, ensuring drawings and submittals are reviewed and approved in a timely manner and coordinating project labor, materials and equipment to make certain projects are completed on time and on budget.

Since 1977, Navarro has accumulated a wealth of experience in various positions, from assistant project manager to engineer to superintendent and project manager. His work covers a wide range of hotel construction and developments, including the Sheraton Hotel in Puerto Vallarta; Oceana Condominiums, Bajamar and La Cima on the Baja coast; and Phase V of the high-end development at Villas Del Mar at Palmilla in Houston, Texas.

FISHING HAVEN IS HOME TO A WORLD CLASS MARINA

FISHING HEAVEN IS HOME TO A WORLD CLASS MARINA

In the Bahamas, less than 50 miles from Miami, anglers can find some of the best game fishing in the world. They can also enjoy the laid back atmosphere and newly developed docks and amenities at Bimini Sands Marina. The marina center on South Bimini Island meets the needs of the facility’s condo residents and scores of transient boaters and fishermen who visit each year.

Single source marina constructor Bellingham Marine was contracted to design and supply its Unifloat concrete docks. Owner Frank Cooney explained, “I chose the Bellingham product for several reasons. First is ease of installation. The docks are delivered almost completely assembled and are virtually maintenance-free. Because we experience a lot of tide fluctuation, floating docks provide a much safer walking surface than fixed docks. And finally, the concrete docks offer a much higher degree of protection against tropical storms and hurricanes.”

The first phase of the project saw installation of fourteen 50′ docks; the second, fourteen 60′ docks; and the final phase will add sixteen 50′ docks. When complete, the marina will be home to 141 Unifloat slips from 50′ to 120′ in length, with 30/50-amp electric supply and potable water. Also in process on the property are 216 luxurious condos for permanent residence and rental.

MARINA CONSTRUCTOR LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

October 29, 2002

For marina engineers and developers, owners and recreational boaters, Bellingham Marine’s new website has entered cyberspace. At www.bellingham-marine.com, visitors will find everything the company offers, and then some. The layout of each page includes project photos that scroll across the top of the page. By pointing at a photo, the scrolling stops and the project name pops up. Clicking on the photo leads to more photos and a description of the project. The new site is organized with subject tabs for easy navigation. They direct the viewer to information and photos of the company, its products, projects and links to related sites, as well as a contact email page. Each tab has extensive pull-down menus that lead to additional information and photos on each subject. The site includes Bellingham’s history, its seven worldwide manufacturing locations, sales and project management offices and licensees. Visitors can even print brochures directly from the site, or read up on current and past projects, the latter listing more than 1,800 projects in matrix format. Bellingham Marine designs, manufactures and installs floating dock systems and dry storage buildings for marinas and boat facilities worldwide.

BELLINGHAM CONTRACTS TO FINISH NEWPORT MARINA

October 1, 2002 / No Comments

As one of Southern California’s most vibrant recreation and entertainment centers, Newport Beach is known worldwide for beautiful beaches, a picturesque coastline and countless leisure activities. Soon, it will boast one of the finest marinas on the West Coast as well.

Bellingham Marine has signed a contract to complete the floating dock system at The Balboa Bay Club Marina, part of The Balboa Bay Club Resort and Spa. The existing Dock A will be removed and replaced with 16 new concrete slips from 86′ to 98′ in length. When it’s finished, the marina will be home to a total of 144 of Bellingham’s Unifloat slips, ranging from 25′ to 100′.

This is a turnkey job for Bellingham, including electrical and fire utilities, potable water, two aluminum gangways, steel piling, all permits, a floating harbormaster building, a swim platform and walkway lighting. Because the megayachts dock bow-first, power pedestals are located halfway down each finger for craft with power connections located in the stern.

The Balboa Bay Club Marina also offers small boat dry storage, plus kayak and canoe racks. The kayaks can be rented by the hour on the beach. During the summer, electric boats are available for bay cruises. The Club also arranges yacht charters for harbor or weekend cruises. Since 1948, The Balboa Bay Club has provided many of the pleasures of life to its membership, which has included everyone from presidents to celebrities to corporate officials. Although small enough to be personally attentive, the Club strives to provide excellent dining, exciting entertainment and some of the finest temporary or permanent living accommodations.

The opening of a new clubhouse recently marked the end of the first phase of a 28-month, $55 million project scheduled for completion in Spring of 2003. The Balboa Bay Club Resort and Spa is only minutes from world-class shopping and the University of California Irvine campus. Disneyland is easily accessible, and the dramatic, ascending landscape of the coast enables many restaurants not located on the water to provide guests with panoramic views of Newport Beach’s seascape.
