Beautiful La Paz is the capital of Baja California Sur, Mexico. And now it’s also home of one of the area’s newest resort marinas, Marina Costa Baja, designed and built by world renowned marina constructor Bellingham Marine.
Marina Costa Baja’s new Unifloat concrete floating dock system consists of 240 berths in two basins and a man-made breakwater. The outer basin is designed for vessels from 15 m to 60 m, and the inner basin accommodates craft from 9 m to 15 m.
This turnkey project also included all of the amenities associated with a five-star facility. Each slip has its own electric service, potable water, telephone and TV service and pumpout system. Additionally, the marina features a fuel dock, cruise vessel docking facility and a boat launch ramp.
Some of the design challenges of the construction were the significant corrosion resistance necessary to handle a high-salinity, tropical environment, and pre-drilling for the guide pile system to overcome the rocky soil.
Located on one of the finest, white sand beaches on the southeast coast of the Gulf of California, the resort is situated on 215 hectares of land, with nearly 1.6 km of beach front. The facility includes a 120-room hotel, 20 private villas on the beach, and private apartments and condominiums overlooking the marina.

Floating pontoons have been in use around the world for decades and are favoured, usually in association with wave attenuators or breakwaters, as the most user-friendly and versatile means of equipping a modern marina. With input from concrete systems specialist Bellingham Marine (BMI) and several of its recent customers, Marina World examines the advantages of concrete floating systems over fixed docks.

As the gateway to the beautiful Harbor Islands in Southern California, Ventura Isle Marina is the largest pleasure boat marina in Ventura Harbor, California, USA. And its final phase of redevelopment, begun in the mid-1990s, has been completed by Bellingham Marine.
With the addition of 55 new Unifloat floating berths, averaging 45’ in length, the total number of berths comes to 580, accommodating boats from 25’ to 100’. The project utilized Bellingham’s unique single-piece fingers for berths that are 50’ or less. As the single-source contractor, Bellingham also installed new piling, utilities and dock equipment. Each berth has telephone and TV hookups, storage lockers and metered electrical service, and all docks have complete firefighting systems.
Ventura Isle features clean restrooms and showers, 24-hour walking security patrol, free pump-out service on the fuel dock, yacht brokers and a deli that’s open 7 days. The marina is within walking distance of nine high-class restaurants, and just 4.8 km from groceries, marine supplies and a shopping center.
