Located just 15 minutes from the city centre, Port Fòrum is ideally situated within the newly redeveloped Fòrum Barcelona complex surrounded by new luxury hotels, condominiums and one of Europe’s largest conference centers. Bellingham Marine Europe was awarded the design-build contract, which included the creation of 190 fully serviced berths in two basins ranging in size from 10m to 80m as well as a 245 boat dry storage facility.
The marina features, Bellingham’s concrete Unifloat system and provides upgraded facilities for boaters including finger piers for each boat. John Audabran, of Port Fòrum, is happy with the marina’s choice to offer finger piers. According to Audabran, “Yacht Captains are looking for quality berths with side boarding. Bellingham Marine’s Unifloat solution was the preferred choice offering a secure finger berth solution for alongside mooring”.
Services on the marina are comprehensive and include electricity (up to 600 amps 3 phase for the 80 meter berths), fresh water, lighting, TV and telephone. All berths over 30 meters have dedicated sewage pumpout facilities at the berth. A public pumpout facility was also installed for other berth holders and visiting boats.
Port Fòrum’s dry storage facility offers Spain’s first dry stack storage service for boats. Operating throughout the year, Bellingham’s innovative dry stack storage system (Unistack) will have a capacity for 245 motorboats of up to 9m. The dry storage building is now operational for 115 boats with the second phase of 130 additional spaces currently under construction. The second phase was brought forward to meet the huge demand for these berths as the first phase was sold out within 6 months. Boats are launched and retrieved using a Wiggins Marina Bull forklift, with a typical operation (from lifting a boat out of its rack to launching) of approximately 4 minutes.
Port Fòrum has established a new level of marina facility within the Mediterranean providing very high standards and raising the bar of expectation as to what constitutes a truly world class marina.

Located just seven miles off the coast of Cape Cod, the town of Menemsha, Massachusetts has a newly renovated docking facility. Small in comparison to most city marinas, the new Unifloat docks, supplied by Bellingham Marine, are a much welcomed addition to the island’s boating facilities.
The Unifloat system replaced an old wood walkway that had serviced the marina’s tenants for many years but was in disrepair. The new floating concrete walkway provides boaters with a secure and safe place to moor their vessels. Bellingham’s Unifloat system was the perfect solution for replacement of the old walkway with a low maintenance, highly durable, and cost effective alternative.
The new walkway is 210’ long by 9’ wide and doubles as a moorage point and public promenade. 13 slips are available accommodating boats up to 45’ in length. Slips have hook-ups for basic utilities including power and water – providing boaters with much desired amenities. The marina also offers fuel services and a local seafood restaurant is located at the beginning of the pier.
The Unifloat system is a modular system, allowing sections to be sub-assembled prior to installation. To minimize shipping cost, Menemsha’s new concrete floating walkway was towed to the island in two, 105’ lengths from the contractor’s facility in New Bedford, MA. On-site, the two sections were assembled and utility services were installed.
Great fishing and beautiful sunsets attract many visitors to Menemsha; however, there is more to be seen and enjoyed. The village of Menemsha reveals the true spirit of the island with antique shops, boutiques, and great seafood. If you are anticipating a trip to Martha’s Vineyard and are looking to stop in the town of Menemsha, be sure to call ahead to check slip availability. The new slips at the town marina are reserved for residents; however, they can be rented to transients when residents are not using them.

Known for its emerald waters and white sand beaches, Gulf Shores, Alabama is home to a new marina. Built by Bellingham Marine and situated on the Intracoastal Waterway, Homeport Marina has become a haven for deep sea fishers and recreational boaters. The marina provides residents along Alabama’s Premier Gulf Coast with a protected basin and direct access to the deep waters of the gulf.
Designed and built by Bellingham Marine, Homeport Marina offers 76 wet slips featuring Bellingham’s Unifloat system, transient dockage for boaters visiting the area, and public fuel services. Diesel and gas pumps are installed on a 130 foot floating concrete dock and are easily accessible by boaters traveling along the Intracoastal Waterway. Other amenities include single and multi-phase power, cable, wireless internet, 24 hour security, and pump-out facilities.
In its first year of operation, Homeport Marina provided refuge for boaters from the hurricanes that pounded the Gulf Coast in 2005. Even before completion, boaters flocked to the marina to seek protection from Hurricane Dennis filling the marina to capacity. Hurricane Katrina brought strong winds, flood waters and debris; however, the protected basin and well-engineered docking system proved to be a safe evacuation point for boaters. Mac McAleer, owner of Homeport Marina, is pleased with the performance of his new marina and his tenants are equally happy. “For many of our customers there was comfort in knowing they had slips reserved for this hurricane season at Homeport Marina.”
Homeport Marina is also home to Lucy Buffet’s Lulu’s Restaurant, a local hot spot where locals and visitors alike are greeted with true southern hospitality. Lulu’s serves up delicious food and live entertainment every night. Future shore side development is planned which will be built on the property overlooking the marina.

Located on the western edge of Shelter Island and just minutes from downtown San Diego, California, the newly renovated Kona Kai Marina provides tenants and visitors to the area with a state-of-the-art marina and quality accommodations. Bellingham Marine was hired for the renovation based on their reputation in the industry and ability to meet the needs of this complex project.
The new marina features Bellingham’s Unifloat concrete floating docks. With 16” freeboard and 6’ – 8’ walkways, boarding and mooring vessels at Kona Kai is both easy and safe. All slips are fully serviced with utility provisions designed to meet today’s boaters’ needs. Power, phone, television, high speed internet, and pumpout services are available. The marina also provides slip concierge and catering services from its four-star Kona Kai Resort and Spa located on site.
The renovation at Kona Kai entailed a complete overhaul of the marina. Detailed planning and coordination were an absolute requirement. The goal was to remove the existing marina, which was in disrepair and absolutely full of boats, while causing as little disruption to the tenants and day to day operations as possible.
Bellingham Marine performed as a design/build contractor and provided assistance in the permit process. Work included demolition and disposal of the existing system; design, manufacture, and installation of the new concrete floating dock system; design and installation of utility systems; pile driving; and design and installation ADA accessible gangways. Where possible the existing marina components, such as power pedestals, piling and pile caps, were salvaged and reused.
The newly renovated marina has approximately 115,000 square feet of Unifloat docks, with 518 slips ranging in length from 30 to 200 feet. The new mega-yacht dock services yachts from 140’ to 200’ and can accommodate vessels up to 250’. Owner, Bill Short, was extremely happy with Bellingham’s execution. “Bellingham supplied a great design and a great project management team. Everything was on-time and on budget – that’s what owners want to see.”

The ‘pond’ is not a term a stranger would likely use for the waterway that surrounds the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron (RSYS) in Australia owing to the three types of ferry traffic, tugs, recreational boaters and the odd military craft that will buzz by on any given day. Despite this being called the ‘inner Harbour’, the visible and sub-surface wake here make the most seasoned sailor grab hold and take note. The lack of predictability boosts the heart rate of the uninitiated with a huge variety of wave types and frequencies.
